For those intending to do the installation workshop this weekend, please note there is a change to the time. The workshop will now be held from 10.00 am - 12:30 pm on Saturday, March 3. The venue remains the same, the Perth Centre of Photography, 100 Aberdeen Street, Northbridge (phone 9227 5143).
If you wish to attend, you need to contact Lyle Branson to advise your availability. He wants to know your contact details, mobile number and email address, what suburb you live in and whether or not you have assisted with installing at past FotoFreo festivals. Lyle can be contacted by email at installfotofreo@gmail.com.
Even if you cannot make the workshop but would like to help out with installing the work, please get in touch with Lyle at the above address and supply him with the information requested.
Of particular interest is the request from Magnum Photos for a number of volunteers to assist in the five day workshops (there are three running concurrently) from Monday, March 19 through and including Friday the 23rd of March. If you nominate for this, you will need to commit to at least two full days during this period. The workshops run between 9.00 am and 5.00 pm every day for five days.
Magnum will select the volunteers who indicate their willingness to be involved. Clearly a reasonable amount of knowledge of photography, Photoshop and computer skills will be an advantage.
If you wish to be considered for assisting with the Magnum workshops, please email admin@fotofreo.com stating your name, mobile number, your experience as a photographer and why you believe you are best suited to do this work.
We are also calling for volunteers to be official Festival photographers using the latest Nikon gear (on loan from Nikon). For those selected to do this work you will each have a ‘tour of duty’ for one week. During that time we will expect you to attend every official opening, activity or scheduled event. You will not necessarily have to be there for all of the time.
As a part of this activity we would like to post highlights of the festival on our website, Facebook and Flickr pages. Experience working with these mediums would be useful.
Again, if you are interested in volunteering for this work, contact admin@fotofreo.com and tell us why you should be selected.
We are preparing a number of forms to facilitate:
- The staffing of a range of one-off functions, openings and special events.
- The organising of duties, with dates and times for the gallery sitting – in effect, establishing the rosters.
- Airport pickups and drop offs
A link to the first of these forms, staffing of one-off functions, etc, is now available.
Click here to schedule your volunteer activities. If you experience any difficulties with this form, email admin@fotofreo.com.
In addition there are a number of other activities we need help in the office over the next two weeks to arrange:
- Assembling the visitors bags
- Preparation of the lanyards and identity cards
- Compiling lists of invitees to specific functions
- Preparing the survey sheets for distribution during the festival
If you can assist with any of these tasks can you contact Glenice Smith at
admin@fotofreo.com to discuss how you might be best able to help and your availability.
Finally, we are planning another meeting of volunteers, probably on the weekend of March 10 and 11, to go through the final details of the volunteer programme. We will advise everyone through the newsletter the exact time and date.
