Fremantle Arts Centre (9 KB)

Fremantle Arts Centre. Housed in a magnificent neo-Gothic heritage listed building, the Fremantle Arts Centre is one of the State's most dynamic arts organisations, running a diverse cultural program that includes exhibitions of contemporary visual arts and craft. Construction of the building commenced in 1861 to serve as Western Australia's first purpose-built lunatic asylum.

Moores Building (14 KB)

The Moores Building Contemporary Art Gallery is managed by the City of Fremantle and is located in the historic  west-end, near to commercial galleries and Notre Dame University. An intrinsic facet of Fremantle’s Arts community, the gallery has six individual exhibition spaces offering interplay of history with contemporary visual art and craft. The Moores Building is a service provided by the City of Fremantle and is a Smoke Free Venue. Wheel chair access is available for the ground floor.

The new Maritime Museum, Victoria Quay (9 KB)

The Western Australian Maritime Museum now has a new iconic building located at the western end of Victoria Quay on the south side of the Fremantle Inner Harbour. Within the building is a dedicated gallery space for travelling exhibitions and this is where the FotoFreo 2008 exhibition will be located.

Fremantle Prison (25 KB)

The Fremantle Prisonis one of Western Australia's premier heritage sites, centrally located in the heart of Fremantle. The Prison was built by convicts in the 1850s and was closed as a place of incarceration in 1991 after 136 years of continuous use. It was opened to the public in 1992 as a tourist site and in recognition of its significant heritage value was placed on the Australian Government's new National Heritage List in 2005, the first Western Australian site to be listed. Guided tours of the prison and precinct are available to visitors. Special Torchlight tours are held on Wednesday and Friday nights.

(closed Good Friday and Christmas Day).

Gino's Cafe

Gino's Cafe Popular coffee house in the heart of Fremantle's famous cappuccino strip and a venue that has a long association with the visual arts. Gino's has several permanent photographic exhibitions on show, with works by Western Australian photographers Brent Sumner, Brad Rimmer and Graham Miller. Graham Miller's images for FotoFreo 2002 can be seen on the far wall of the cafe.
